This Privacy Policy explains the policies regarding the collection, use, and sharing of data related to the educational tool we developed for medical schools (hereinafter referred to as “Skill Tracker”). By using the application, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Data Collected

Skill Tracker collects various personal data to enable students and instructors to log into the system, track and assess medical skills, record attitudes and behaviors, support group work, and facilitate knowledge review. The collected data includes:

  • Personal Information: Student ID, first name, last name, email address, phone number, profile photo.
  • Academic Information: Medical skills (Skill) acquired or developed during the student’s education, badges (Badge), group work, flashcards, and related assessment results.
  • Notification Data: Log records of notifications sent via Firebase.
  • User Preferences: Personal preferences such as whether you have logged in before, preferred language, and vibration settings on your device (if available) are stored on your device.
  • Other Data: Activities within Skill Tracker and reports generated from these activities.

3. Data Usage

The collected data will be used for the following purposes:

  • Monitoring and evaluating students’ medical skills, attitudes, and overall performance.
  • Storing and sharing flashcard collections created by students.
  • Monitoring and improving application performance.
  • Assessing student competence and tracking overall success by universities.
  • Storing user preferences and personalizing the application.

4. Data Sharing

The collected data may be shared with or not shared with the following parties:

  • Universities: To evaluate students’ performance, academic and personal information of students will only be shared with the instructors of the medical school at the university where the student is enrolled. All instructors at the medical school will have access to students’ Skill and Badge activities.
  • Developer: The development team may analyze student data to improve the Skill Tracker project and enhance the user experience. However, this data will only be used in an anonymized and aggregated manner.
  • Third Parties: Student data will not be shared with any third parties or companies.

5. Data Security

All collected data is stored on our secure servers and can only be accessed by authorized personnel. The following measures are taken to ensure the security of your data:

  • Data encryption technologies are used.
  • Access controls and authentication processes are implemented.
  • Data is used solely for the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention and Account Deletion

The collected data will continue to be stored even if the student deletes their account. The student has the right to delete their account through the application’s settings. However, after this process, the student will not be able to log back into their account, and instructors will no longer have access to this data. Nonetheless, this data will continue to be stored for the university’s academic requirements. If the student wishes for this data to be fully deleted, they must submit a request to their university.

7. User Rights

Students can request access to their personal data, request the correction or deletion of this data. Students may fulfill these requests by contacting their university or by sending a request directly to [email protected]. They also have the right to learn about the purposes for which the data is used.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Skill Tracker does not use any cookies or tracking technologies. However, personal preferences within the application (such as language selection, login status, vibration settings, etc.) are stored on your device. No additional data such as IP address, device information, or location data is collected from the student.

9. Changes to the Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as needed. Changes to the policy will be announced in the application, and users will be deemed to have accepted these changes.
